What is human resource management?

Wikipedia defines human resource management as "the management of an organization's workforce, that is responsible for the attraction, selection, training, assessment, and rewarding of employees." As a human resources manager, you will handle everything that has to do with identifying and bringing in new talent, as well as making sure they are successful in their position. This also includes dealing with any issues relating to compensation, performance, employee motivation, wellness, benefits, and safety.

As a human resource manager, you will be the first point of contact a potential new hire will have with a company. It will be your job to convey the company culture and environment. The face of the industry is changing and human resource managers are expected to add value through the strategic utilization of employees, and implementing employee programs that impact the overall business in ways that can be measured.
