Employment Manager
Much like a Human Resources Manager, an Employment Manager is responsible for the day-to-day happenings and operations in a large workplace. Bigger corporations need a separate Employment Manager to assist with the recruitment and selection process of hiring employees. So in short, their responsibilities include planning, recruitment, interviewing, hiring, and all things related to staffing within their particular organization.
Employment Managers accomplish these tasks by keeping up to date on the staffing needs of their own company, as well as changes on the overall labor market so they know whether it is feasible to hire employees and how many they can afford to hire. They are also able to determine the availability of qualified candidates and develop connections with trade schools and staffing agencies to avoid any shortages of staffing. It is the responsibility of the Employment Manager to keep up to date on all Federal laws regarding hiring practices, including discrimination and fair treatment of all employees.
While many jobs in the field only require a Bachelor's Degree, a quick look at job listings reveals more and more companies are starting to prefer a Master's Degree for the Employment Manager position. Along with the degree, a minimum of five to seven years of job experiences may also be required. The candidate will be in charge of staffing the company, and literally changing the face of the organization. As a result, this is a position where education and experience is crucial.
The position of Employment Manager is one which requires much experience and much detail, but also comes with much reward. If done correctly, the candidate can shape the future of an entire organization and have a hand in how successful that organization eventually becomes.
